Moorhead was selected by the National Parks Service to receive an “Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership” Program grant – one of five awards nationally. The $5 million grant will be matched by City funds and used to replace the community swimming pool and add other fun and modern recreational amenities to Romkey Park as proposed in the Reimagine Romkey plan. An amenity that is shown but has not been funded at this point is the splashpad. Donations are needed for this amenity to be included in the project. |

Both need amenities that would enhance the park for users, such as benches, trees, agility equipment, signage, additional lighting for winter months, etc. Total project cost for the added amenities would be $25,000 for each location. |

Phase I of the Inclusive Playground at Southside Regional Park is now complete. This playground is able to be used for individuals with all abilities, a rubber surface allowing ease in pushing wheelchairs, landscaping and a sidewalk. Fundraising continues needed to install fencing around the perimeter of the playground. This fence is a high priority that will add an additional level of safety for children who are prone to running off. |
