Homebuyer Education
Homebuyer Education – Online and in-person education are offered through the Minnesota Homeownership Center and Lakes & Prairies Community Action Partnership, Inc. Classes prepare prospective homebuyers for the important process of purchasing a home, including:
- Affordability
- Mortgage qualifications and financing
- Avoiding scams
- Property evaluation
- Closing process
Some lenders of affordable home mortgages require homebuyer education. The Minnesota Homeownership Center classes are approved by the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and used to help individuals qualify for low interest mortgage and down-payment assistance programs. Whether you qualify for one of these housing programs or you are getting a traditional mortgage, these classes are a great way to learn more as you make this significant investment. It’s a great idea to take these classes before you start shopping for a home, but the information is helpful at any time in the process.
