Finding My Property Line
How do I find my property lines?
Surveying pins should be located at the corners of your property. The surveying pins are typically some type of metal stake (rebar, iron pipe, steel rod, etc.) and may be buried in the ground. Surveying pins may be disrupted by excavating projects and you may wish to have the pin locations verified by a licensed professional registered land surveyor.
If you cannot locate the original survey pins, the only accurate way to find or replace them is to hire a land surveyor. The Yellow Pages maintains a listing of local licensed professional registered land surveyors that provide this service. Land surveyors can also identify easements and other features that may affect your property.
Will the City locate my property lines for me?
The City of Moorhead does not locate property lines. If you cannot locate the original survey pins, the only accurate way to find or replace them is to hire a land surveyor.
Property owners are the sole responsible party for the identification of property line location. The City or any past land surveyors shall not be held liable for property line conflicts.
