Exploring is a youth development program chartered though Learning for Life. Learning For Life is a subsection of the Boy Scouts of America. Young men and women who are in the 9th grade through 21 years of age are eligible to join the group.

Exploring's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish Exploring members by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, to grow, to develop leadership skills, and to become good citizens.

All explorers must be drug, chemical, alcohol and crime free. Any applicant with a criminal history will be subject to review by a panel before acceptance into the Police Explorer group.
